About
Vanessa Girling
A life shaped by interconnectedness
Vanessa’s work sits at the intersection of inner and outer space — bringing together meditation, design, Vaastu and a deep relationship with the natural world.
She is the founder of Bahu Design Studio, a natural building design practice exploring how the spaces we inhabit can support health, connection and a more conscious way of living. Her approach brings together contemporary design with traditional knowledge, including the principles of Vaastu Shastra — an ancient Indian understanding of the relationship between people, nature, energy and the built environment.
Alongside design, Vanessa teaches meditation through courses and group sessions, drawing from more than a decade of study across Vedic, Hindu and Daoist philosophies, as well as breathwork, movement and holistic wellbeing practices.
Meditation is a daily practice and an anchor in her own life. It informs not only how she teaches, but how she approaches design, place and everyday life.
Her connection to nature is equally integral. The ocean remains a place of rhythm and refuge, while time spent outdoors, preparing nourishing food and living simply are all part of a life centred around presence, health and balance.
For Vanessa, these are not separate pursuits. The way we tend to our inner world and the way we shape our outer world are deeply connected.
This is the philosophy that sits at the heart of both Rose Meditation and Bahu Design Studio.
